Taught by my mother as a child, I still enjoy the creativity that comes from a pair of knitting needles and a skein of yarn.
Finding the right pattern is just the beginning of the fun! Since 2003, I've taken inspiration from the book, 99 Knit Stitches by Leisure Arts, Inc. (first published in 1997), to design hats, scarves and afghans.
When several Miami University friends asked me to teach them over the lunch hour, I agreed with the request that each person make a hat for donation. We called ourselves the Crafty Staffers and in the first year, 58 hats were made for a local organization that assists needy families. Wow!
Feel free to use one of the patterns listed to the right. I hope you'll be inspired, too.
